General information

Grifulvin V prescribed for treatment fungal infections of the skin, scalp, and nails (jock itch, athlete's foot, barber's itch). Grifulvin V just stopping the growth of fungi, but does not eliminate the cause of the disease.

Directions

First of all you should consult with your doctor. Generally it is recommended to take Grifulvin V orally(2 tablets with a meal and a teaspoon of vegetable oil) or to apply it locally on the skin. A period of treatment is determined by your doctor.

Precautions

Patients with a certain blood disorder (porphyria), severe liver disease (liver failure), lupus and pregnant or lactating women shouldn't take Grifulvin V. It is not recommended to drive, to take alcohol, to take sun baths, while you taking this medication.

Contraindications

Patients with hepatic diseases, porphyria (interferes with porphyrin metabolism), hypersensitive to griseofulvin or any component of this drug, pregnant or breastfeeding women mustn't take Grifulvin V.

Possible side effect

Possible side effects are the following: allergic reaction (facial swelling, hives, difficulty breathing); white patches in your mouth (thrush/yeast infection); nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea; headache, dizziness, or tiredness; insomnia; confusion; numbness or tingling in your hands or feet; or menstrual irregularities. In case if you think that you feel some sympthoms of side effects you should call for medical help immediately.

Drug interaction

There are some drugs, that interact with Grifulvin V: barbiturate medicines for sleep or seizures, female hormones, like estrogens or progestins and birth control pills, and warfarin. But you should always follow the doctor's recommendations about drug interaction.

Missed dose

Never take more than prescribed dose, even if you missed the one. Try to take it as soon as possible.Or, if it's too late, just skip it and take your usually dose next day in the same regularly time.

Overdose

In case if you think that you could be overdosed by Grifulvin you should call for medical help immediately.Symptoms of Grifulvin V overdose are following: diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, headache, numbness and tingling, and confusion.

Storage

Store at room temperature between 59-77 F (15-25 C), in a dark and dry place. Save it from children and pets. Watch the expiration date!
